Antiques:  Antiques are acceptable for Brokerage clearence. Restrictions on importing these goods depends on what type of antique it is. An import license is needed. The UPS broker must be authorized by the Mexican Government. Import paperwork, permission and certificates are needed.

 

Bicycles and Bicycle Parts:  The government of Mexico prohibits the import of bicycles to the ports of Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. Bicycle parts can be imported to all three ports, however, the import is allowed for commercial use only.

 

Chinese Origin Goods:  Chinese Origin Goods made in China, such as plastic toys and clothing, may be subject to high anti-dumping quotas which range in 500+%, which may result in abandonment by the consignee due to the high cost of entry. Plastic toys from China without an electronic mechanism (for example stuffed animals, Barbie dolls, and cars) will incur a higher anti-dumping quota, as well as the following items:

  • Chinese clothes (man, woman, child; old or used)
  • Chisels
  • Curtains
  • Dishes or loose pieces of ceramic and porcelain
  • Keys
  • Life jackets
  • Padlock
  • Plastic toys (with electronic mechanisms are allowed)
  • Players
  • Presses
  • Punch
  • Screwdrivers
  • Stripping knives
  • Tennis shoes
  • Weaves
  • Wedge

Credit Cards:  One or two credit cards can be sent to an individual as a non-document shipment with an invoice. More than two credit cards for other than individual use are prohibited.

Electrical Items:  Used electrical items are prohibited from import into Mexico.

New unused electrical items can be imported into Mexico. The invoice must include the name, numbers, class, or partial quantities of packages, or the total of them, if applicable. If this information is not included on the invoice(s), it must be included on an enclosed packing list. Trademarks, as well as model and serial numbers, should be included when applicable. Also include the point-of-sale value per unit item and per package or per shipment.

 

Military Equipment:  All Mexico ports prohibit the import of weapons, knives, and explosives.

 

Shoes:  Mexico City, Guadalajara & Monterrey allows import shipments of new shoes. Declared value for their import is unlimited, however duties & taxes will be determined by the material of the shoe or if for men, women or children. Except from Asian countries. Asian countries with this import will probably pay an extra fee, depends on the customs officials. Used imported shoes, is prohibited to all ports, except if they are a personal item and the consignee must prove they belong to him or her with a passport or travel ticket. All used shoe import must also have proper import authorization forms from the Treasure Department. If authorization not available import will not be allowed.
